| Seoul is famous for its sufficient and well-organized transportation system. Subway and bus fees start at less than $1 while taxi fares start at $2. |
| 2. Weather |
| Korea has four distinct seasons - spring, summer, fall, and winter. Spring runs from March through May with flowers such as azaleas, forsythia, cherry blossoms, rapeseed flowers, and magnolia. From July to August, it is hot and sometimes rainy. Autumnal tints arrive nationwide in October. Skiing season starts from late November and lasts to early March. |
| 3. Language |
| Korea has a unique language using ten vowels and fourteen consonants. The language is written in a native phonetic alphabet, hangeul, which was created in 1443. |
| 4. Tax & Tipping in Korea |
| Value-added tax is levied on most goods and services at a standard rate of 10% and is included in the retail price. Tipping is not customary in Korea. |
| 5. Electrical System |
| Outlets for 220 volts and 60 cycles are dominant. Always check the power supply before using your equipment. |
| 6. Business Hours |
| Government office hours are from 09:00 to 18:00, although from November through February they close at 17:00. Most private businesses open at anywhere from 08:30 to 10:00 and close in the evening. Banking business hours, however, are from 09:30 to 16:30 on weekdays and from 09:30 to 13:30 on Saturdays. |
II. COEX Information
| Since established in March, 1979, COEX has made the site for international exchange through a number of international conventions and been positioned as the best convention & exhibition center in Korea through numerous cultural and art events. It has the facilities of 12 exhibition halls in the building of 4 stories and 4 basements in the site of 11,000 Pyong(36,300‡u) (total building area of 130,000 Pyong, 429,000‡u), convention hall to accommodate 7,000 persons, 61 conference rooms, and high-tech office and management systems. Furthermore, it has been expanding the spaces of culture and art with opening of super-scale cultural complex, COEX Mall in May, 2000, and COEX Art Hall in Aug., 2004. |
